The search for a woman who went missing while traveling aboard a Marine Atlantic ferry between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland has been suspended after extensive efforts yielded no results. The 42-year-old passenger was reported missing Wednesday after the vessel docked in Port aux Basques, triggering an immediate multi-agency search operation across the challenging waters of the Cabot Strait.
“After exhausting all possible search areas and considering the environmental conditions, we’ve made the difficult decision to suspend active search operations,” said Coast Guard Commander James Thorpe. “Our thoughts remain with the family during this incredibly difficult time.”
Marine Atlantic spokesperson Monica Williams confirmed that the woman was traveling alone on the MV Atlantic Vision, which departed North Sydney, Nova Scotia Tuesday evening.
