A devastating collision between a TTC bus and a pickup truck in Toronto’s west end claimed the life of a truck driver early Thursday morning, sending shockwaves through the community and causing significant transit disruptions.
The fatal crash occurred shortly before 5:30 a.m. near Kipling Avenue and Bethridge Road in Etobicoke when a northbound TTC bus collided with a pickup truck traveling westbound. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but the truck driver was pronounced dead upon their arrival, according to Toronto police.
“This is a tragic incident that has affected many people this morning,” said Inspector James Preston of Toronto Police Traffic Services. “Our collision reconstruction team is working diligently to determine the exact sequence of events that led to this unfortunate outcome.”
The bus driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. None of the passengers aboard the bus reported serious injuries, though several were treated for shock at the scene.
